Pre/Postnatal Care

As you embark on the journey of pregnancy, birth and motherhood, you are entering a time of major life change and are open to the potential of great transformation on every level. In Ayurveda (the traditional Indian system of  medicine) pregnancy is called “The great purification”. A woman’s awareness is so intense at this time that any underlying postural issues are exacerbated, providing a great healing opportunity which can empower her to make significant changes for life.

Our packages are bespoke to support and guide YOU through the various stages of YOUR pregnancy and beyond. One-to-one Yoga and Shiatsu will both be tailored to your individual pace and needs*. Packages are pre-paid and designed to be entirely flexible to suit your changing needs, i.e. yoga and shiatsu sessions are interchangeable, as are pre- and post-natal sessions.

Prenatal Care

Yoga during pregnancy:

  • Exercises can support the physical changes of pregnancy and be useful for birth preparation
  • Breath and visualisation exercises help relax you, bond with your unborn child and can assist you with labour and birth

Shiatsu during Pregnancy:

  • Promotes restful sleep
  • Encourages relaxation
  • Lends emotional support
  • Boosts energy levels
  • Helps the body stay supple
  • Helps to connect better to yourself your baby
  • Help to relieve common symptoms such as swollen joints, headaches, lower back/shoulder pain, varicose veins

Postnatal Care

This is a crucial time when sufficient rest is required so healing can take place. It is recommended not to return to a normal Yoga class for up to 5months to ensure full recovery. Postnatal Yoga, however can be started from 1-2 months and we can easily include your baby in the session, nurturing the mother-baby bond.

Postnatal Yoga can help with common problems such as a weak abdomen/pelvic floor, back/shoulder pain, tiredness, postnatal depression and emotional instability.

Postnatal Shiatsu can help to promote recovery, revitalise and realign the body, promote sleep, provide support for postnatal depression, improve circulation and relieve back/shoulder pain.
